Bhindi Bhaji Recipe

You need the following ingredients:

  • 400 grams okra
  • 2 onions (medium sized)
  • ¼ teaspoon of garlic powder or paste
  • ¼ teaspoon of coriander powder or paste
  • 1/8 teaspoon of cumin
  • 3 tomatoes (large)
  • 2 teaspoons of oil
  • ½ cup of chopped cilantro

Making Bhindi Bhaji is simple. All you need to do is to:

  1. Cut the head and the bottom of the okra, do not slice it. This must be done in order to clean the vegetable.
  2. Chop the onions and start heating the oil in the pan. If the pan is ready, cook the onion for 3 minutes or until it becomes transparent.
  3. In the pan, put all the ingredients all together. However, do not include the cilantro, the okra, and the tomato. Cook and stir it for about 4 minutes.
  4. Add the okra in the pan and wait for 6 to 8 minutes or until the okra is already cooked.
  5. Take out the mixture from the pan. Chop the tomato and use it as a garnishing on the dish. Do not forget to put the cilantro as well.
  6. Serve the Bhindi Bhaji. You can actually eat it with rice, with pita bread, or with naan.

The Bhindi Bhaji is a non-curry dish which is great for all the vegetarians who want to get a taste of the Indian cuisine.
