Think about India. What are the first things that would pop into your mind? Probably chilies, curries, and other pungent spices, right? But the country is not just about it. You may also get to enjoy different delicacies that you can munch anytime of the day. These Indian sweets and desserts would definitely take the flame out of your mouth after eating their local spicy dishes.

More often than not, the desserts and the sweets from India are mouth watering as well as tempting. They have a wide array of desserts that can be served during the winter season that would leave your stomach asking for more. But there are also cool sweet treats that would refresh you during the hot days in the country. Whatever the season is, the sweet treats and desserts from India are usually difficult to resist.

The sweets from India are also known as the Mithai. As of today, the Mithais are heavily exported all over the world. Most of the sweets and desserts from this country use heavy amount of condensed milk, sugar, and milk. Most of the sweets must be pan fried or deep fried before it will be served. However, there were differences when it comes to the base or main ingredients of the sweets and this depends on the region where the sweets were done. For example, most of the sweets made in the eastern region of India are based from milk. But in other parts of the country, they base their sweets on other products.

The sweets and desserts in India are varied. One of the varieties of the Indian delicacies is the Parwal ki Mithai. It is a dry sweet made out of parwal or green potato. The outer layer of the Parwal ki Mithai is the green potato while the filling is simply made out from milk products.

You may also find the payasam in India, another exquisite treat in the country. It is also called by the Hindi as the Kheer. The payasam is not just a simple sweet delicacy in India. They also consider it as one of the most valuable dishes that is served during important celebrations. As a matter of fact, if a couple would not serve payasam during their wedding, they were not considered as fully blessed. Until today, there are still couples who practice this tradition particularly in the southern areas of India.

There are some sweets and desserts that are cooked by means of boiling. This is what they call the rasgula or the rasagolla. The main ingredients of the rasgula are sugar, semolina, and chenna. The small pops called casein will be boiled in sugar syrup. This is something that is usually done by the women in India. It is so easy that it can be made even without cooking expertise. That is why this is a common dessert in most household in India.

On the other hand, there is also what the call as the chena murki. This is probably the simplest dessert in the country of India. There are only two ingredients used in making chena murki,, just sugar and milk. The milk will be boiled for a very long time until it is condensed. They would let it cool for a while and then create round pieces of the condensed milk. It will be rolled in sugar afterwards to add a sweeter taste
